Susan returned to the financial services industry in 2009 after losing her parents and becoming the trustee of their estate. After hands on estate management, she developed a passion for helping others during difficult times of transitions. She found that working with the whole family is critical. Susan has mastered Tax and Investment management and can explain even the most complicated situation in an understandable, relatable way.

When she is not speaking at a seminar or meeting with clients, Susan can be found on the ice as an adult Figure Skater. In 2013, she took to the ice for the first time and has since competed at Theatre on Ice Nationals and National Showcase as well as many local competition and holiday shows. She also volunteers her time as a USFSA appointed music coordinator and announcer. And she is always available for playtime with her granddaughter and godsons. |
Rebecca Sommer | Educational Content CoordinatorRebecca Sommer has years of experience working in financial services education and research as well as legal services. In addition to numerous scholastic achievements, including ranking top 10% of her graduating class at Loyola Law School and earning several scholarships for extracurricular activities, Rebecca has a Certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University and participated in the tax honors program at Loyola Law School.She is able to combine her general finance training and legal knowledge to support client education through workshops, seminars, articles, and other client friendly tools.

Reese Nakagawa | Tax and Investment SpecialistRecognizing that each client has individual needs, Reese dedicates himself to understanding and appreciating each client’s situation before making any recommendations. With a vast knowledge base, he specializes in assisting both individuals and small businesses in pursuing their financial goals.
Reese has a bachelor's degree in Operations Management and Analysis from Ashford University. While at Ashford, Reese was inducted into both the Golden Key International and Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Societies. Reese is currently in school to achieve his master’s degree in accounting. Previously as a Supply Chain/Logistics Manager, Reese saw key components in the corporate financial planning process (i.e., developing a plan, analyzing financial situations, cost analysis, process flow analysis, implementing new processes, and developing controls to ensure success) could also be tailored to each individual’s situation to assist in achieving both their financial and personal goals. |
Skye Nakagawa | Office ManagerSkye comes to us with a master’s degree in human resource management and a background in providing exceptional customer service. Starting out as the part-time office assistant, she quickly worked her way up to her current position as Office Manager. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations and takes on various responsibilities during tax season. Skye’s ability to adapt to the ever-changing needs of the staff and clients make her an important asset here at Slaten. With Skye, you will always be greeted with a smile!

Amy Tso | Record-Keeping Data SpecialistAmy Tso is the record-keeping data specialist. She had been with the company since the summer of 2016. Not only does Amy record keep (i.e., scan, upload, and file into our secure database) the clients' files, she helps out during tax season as an administrative assistant. When Amy is not at Slaten Wealth, she works as an education specialist (special education teacher) for a neighboring school district. Amy has been working in the education field for over 10 years. As a result, she is able to bridge some of the gaps in education planning and finances here at Slaten Wealth for the clients.
